U.S./Cuba Scientific Exchange Program
On March 29, 2016, PSCDF sent a team of five highly respected American clinicians and scientists on an inaugural visit with eight Cuban delegates. The exchange consisted of a 5-day trip of engaging discussions, visits to hospitals in Havana and rural areas, and meetings with national healthcare institutions.
The purpose of the U.S-Cuba Scientific Exchange program is to connect leading diabetes specialists, both in type 1 and type 2, to exchange ideas and further the scientific understanding of diabetes and its complications. The goal is to develop lasting relationships on the basis of improving sciences for diabetes research, prevention, and management in both nations. The program paves the way for shared medical approaches, technologies, and studies in the field of diabetes.
