The 2017 Inaugural Dinner Gala

On Tuesday, December 5, 2017, the Peter Sheehan Diabetes Care Foundation (PSDCF) held its first Charity Dinner Gala to celebrate PSDCF’s accomplishments of this past year and the legacy of Dr. Peter Sheehan. The evening was a great success and we are very proud of the positive feedback from our guests. 150 participants joined us in the Grand Ballroom of the Yale Club of New York City for an evening filled with fun and spectacular entertainment, where we were able to share our work and vision. Thanks to all of you, we are now more than ever confident to have chosen the right path forward: That is to empower our communities, moving forward as a leader in the fight against the diabetes epidemic through global health innovation, research, and education delivered at the community level.

We opened the evening with a cocktail reception from 6:00pm-7:00pm, followed with dinner, silent and live auctions, and dancing,
from 7:00pm-10:00pm. Tenor Singer, Rolando Polo, entertained everyone with his vibrant and beautiful voice.

Dr. Gene Morse
We had the privilege to have Dr. Morse as our keynote speaker for the evening. He delivered an informative and powerful speech about the genesis of the Global Health Institute and his relationship with Dr. Peter Sheehan. Dr. Morse is Co-Director of the SUNY Global Health Institute and seats on the PSDCF Board of Directors.

Dr. Ira Jacobson
We were honored to present the 1st Peter Sheehan Community Empowerment Award to Dr. Ira Jacobson. The Peter Sheehan Community Empowerment Award is given to an individual who demonstrates an outstanding commitment to eliminating health disparities in a community at-risk of diabetes and its complications. Dr. Jacobson fully embodies the values of the Peter Sheehan Community Empowerment Award, as his efforts have significantly improved Asian Health.

Ron Salem
We were very blessed to have Ron Salem, who shared stories of his long-time struggle with diabetes. Ron spoke about the difficulties of managing the disease and living with its uncertainty and complexity. Ron embodies the resilience of people with diabetes.

We, at the Peter Sheehan Diabetes Care Foundation, are constantly getting stronger and adapting to make our impact. We would not be where we are without your help. Thank you for your support. Together, we are a powerful force that will build a world where everyone benefits from effective diabetes care.

We look forward to your active participation in years to come!
